Energy is the true currency of health. Without it, everything is much more difficult. Your body constantly gives you feedback, one of which could be poor energy. Your body doesn’t have a voice but via fatigue it can tell you to eat, drink, move, think, breathe, believe or perceive something you are doing in your life in a new way. Rather than being frustrated by tiredness, you should rather recognize it as a request from your body to take action.
You can regulate your tiredness by making small adjustments in your lifestyle and diet to break out your inner source of energy, allowing yourself to live your life with its full potential.
Looking back, I had different times in my life when my energy levels weren’t great. I had days when I couldn’t wake up in the morning, snoozing my alarm clock again and again thinking that if I get another minute’s sleep I will be just fine. My day would then consist of cruising along my daily routine without any focus while drinking liters coffee and eating tons of sweets to keep myself going. Trust me, I know how frustrating it is.
If you are reading this, then I suspect you are trying to solve this problem. Now, imagine yourself jumping out of bed full of energy and plans for the upcoming day. You swing along the day completing all tasks and goals you have set yourself. You are focused and concentrated at all times. You don’t have cravings that lead you to binge eating. You have joyful quality time with your loved ones! Wouldn’t that just be great?! A rise in energy levels would definitely affect your relationships, performance at work and your self-realization in a very positive way.
This is why I would like to provide you with tools and action steps that will help you activate your inner sources of energy.
There are 2 sources of energy – PRIMARY FOOD and SECONDARY FOOD.
Primary Food consists of nourishment that doesn’t appear on your plate. Below is a list of these “foods”. Check if these sources of energy are active in your life.
A. Relationships: Honest and open relationships with your couple, kids, parents and friends.
B. Career: Love what you do or do what you love.
C. Regular and joyful physical activity.
D. Spirituality: Engage yourself in self-reflection like religion, spiritual practice or experience nature.
Secondary Food is what we, today, consider nutrition. There is no existing diet that suits everyone. What is good and beneficial for one person could be poisoning for the other. We are all different and biologically individual. But if you follow some rules you will find your way of clean eating that will nourish you.
So here are the tips to activate your inner source of energy.
1. KEEP BALANCE IN PRIMARY FOOD by having enjoyable relationships, career, physical activity and spiritual growth.
2. A MORE VARIED DIET = LESS DESTRUCTIVE CRAVINGS
Cravings are desires of our body to achieve a balance in our diet.
“Crowding out” will benefit you as you add more and more beneficial and healthier foods to your diet. Bit by bit, your body will stop craving for junk.
3. 90/10 DIET
90% of the time eat properly and once in a while let yourself eat what you want.
4. MAKE AT LEAST ONE HEALTHY CHANGE IN YOUR LIFESTYLE EVERY DAY
At the end of the year you would have made 365 healthy changes in your life. By the end of the year, you will see what a life changing transformation you have made.
– BE A FOOD DETECTIVE
Don’t eat anything you cannot pronounce.
– COOK YOUR OWN MEALS
– PUT LESS: Processed, artificial, chemical “junk” food; Caffeine, white sugar, white flour, white rice.
– PUT MORE: Green vegetables, fruits, whole grains;
– DRINK MORE WATER
– BREATHE DEEP
Oxygen is the most important nutrient! It provides energy for growth, maintenance and detoxification. Walk or exercise outside as much as possible. Perform at least 10 deep, slow breaths every day.
– QUALITY SLEEP
By having at least 7 continuous hours of sleep at night, you help your hormones to stay balanced and do their job properly.
Don’t forget that your Health is just like a finely tuned vehicle, fill it with the right fuel and it will take you towards your most desired destinations!
